There’s something about a baby’s first year that feels both slow and impossibly fast at the same time. One minute you’re pregnant and counting kicks… and the next you’re chasing a giggling one-year-old around your living room. Watching families grow through those seasons is truly my favorite part of what I do. Being invited back again and again to document each milestone is something I never take lightly. It’s such an honor. If you’re expecting or welcoming a little one soon, here’s how I recommend capturing your baby’s first year in a way that feels meaningful and true to your family.

THE BEGINNING

MATERNITY | THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY

Maternity sessions are where everything starts. The anticipation. The quiet excitement. The way you instinctively hold your belly without even realizing it. I usually recommend scheduling between 28–34 weeks, when you’re showing beautifully but still comfortable enough to move around and enjoy the experience.

In Savannah, I love soft outdoor locations — beach grasses, marsh light, oak trees, open fields — anything natural and timeless. But I also offer a cozy studio space if you’d prefer something more minimal and controlled. Both options create such beautiful, intimate images in different ways.

I always encourage families to bring a few meaningful pieces along too. Baby clothes, ultrasound photos, heirloom blankets, or anything that feels special to this season. Those little details tell your story and make your session feel personal instead of posed.

This chapter is about connection and slowing down for a moment before everything changes. It deserves to be remembered just as much as baby’s first days.

WELCOME HOME

NEWBORN | THOSE TINY, FLEETING DAYS

Newborns change so quickly it almost feels unfair. Those sleepy stretches, tiny fingers wrapped around yours, the way they curl up on your chest. It all shifts within just a few weeks, which is why this stage is so special to document.

For newborn sessions, I usually recommend your home, nursery, or a cozy studio space where everything feels calm and comfortable. A quiet, controlled environment gives us time to slow down, take breaks, and let baby lead the pace.

When we plan your session, I love starting with your everyday life. I’ll often ask where you naturally spend most of your time together. Maybe it’s in the nursery rocking chair, curled up on the couch, or by a window with soft light. Those spaces already hold so many memories, and they make your photos feel honest and personal. I also encourage you to wear what feels most like you and to bring along anything meaningful. A favorite swaddle, a special gift, a blanket from a grandparent, or a small heirloom piece can add so much heart to your images.

Nothing needs to feel staged or perfect. The goal is simply to remember what this season truly felt like. The snuggles, the quiet moments, and the way your baby fit so perfectly in your arms.

GROWING & CHANGING

milestone sessions | When personality starts to shine

Around four to six months is when everything starts to change in the sweetest way. This is usually the stage where babies really wake up to the world. They’re smiling on purpose, locking eyes with you, grabbing their toes, and showing off those big belly laughs. It’s often the first time parents say, “That’s so them.”

This is why I love milestone sessions so much. We’re not just documenting growth anymore. We’re starting to capture personality. Maybe it’s the way they kick their feet during tummy time or the proud little smile they give when they finally sit up on their own. Maybe it’s a favorite toy they carry everywhere or a tiny habit that already feels so uniquely theirs. Those are the details I pay attention to. The way they scrunch their nose when they laugh or reach for you with both hands. The little things you never want to forget.

These sessions are relaxed and playful. We let them move, explore, and just be themselves. That’s when the most genuine moments happen.

ONE WHOLE YEAR

ONE YEAR | A WHOLE YEAR OF MEMORIES

And then somehow, they’re one. It’s funny how slowly those early days can feel, and then suddenly you’re here, packing away newborn clothes and wondering how your baby looks so big already. This stage is full of so much personality. They’re standing, maybe walking, clapping for themselves, showing opinions, laughing at the silliest things. It feels less like a tiny baby and more like a little person you’re getting to know.

There’s something really special about documenting this season because it isn’t just about a birthday. It’s about everything you’ve made it through together. The late nights, the first smiles, the milestones you celebrated along the way.

Some families love a sweet, simple lifestyle session with lots of cuddles and play. Others want to celebrate with a cake smash or something a little more festive. There’s no right way to do it. It’s just about choosing what feels most like your family.

It’s such a beautiful way to close out that first year and look back at just how far you’ve all come.

Want to capture all of it without booking each session separately?

MADE FOR FAMILIES WHO WANT IT ALL
A series of black and white photographs showing hands cradling a pregnant belly in white fabric.

After years of photographing families, I started noticing something. Most parents didn’t want just one session. They didn’t want to capture only maternity or only newborn photos and then realize how much had already changed a few months later. They wanted the whole story. They wanted to remember all of it.

And honestly, those are my favorite families to work with too. The ones who invite me back again and again, who let me grow alongside them and watch their babies turn into little people right in front of my camera. I truly cherish being invited to document those moments. It’s something I never take lightly.

So I created the First Year Collective to make it simple.

It includes maternity, newborn, and two milestone sessions spread throughout your baby’s first year, with full galleries each time and priority booking so you never miss a stage. Everything is planned out ahead of time so you can relax and just be present with your family.

My goal is always the same. To help you remember not just what this year looked like, but how it felt.

Serving Savannah &  ATLANTA families

lets grow together

If you’re expecting or have a little one on the way, I would truly love to walk through this season with you and document your family’s story. Being invited into these moments is something I cherish more than I can put into words.

I photograph families throughout Coastal Georgia and the Atlanta area, including Savannah, Richmond Hill, Wilmington Island, Lawrenceville, Loganville, and the surrounding communities.

If you’re expecting or simply want to hold onto this season a little longer, I’d love to walk through it with you.
